Warehouse facilities are among the premises with an increased risk of fire. This is due to the storage of large volumes of packaging materials, wood, textiles, chemical liquids and the constant operation of electrical equipment. To ensure safety, it is critically important to correctly design a fire alarm system (SPS), guided by current standards and the specifics of the facility.
Features of the warehouse ATP design
- Composition and properties of stored materials. Products that are prone to rapid ignition (for example, LVJ or cardboard) require increased sensitivity of detectors or the installation of special equipment with intrinsically safe design.
- The dimensions of the premises. In warehouses with high ceilings, it is advisable to use linear or point detectors with adaptation to a high-altitude installation. For optimal coverage, addressable analog systems are often used.
- Division into zones. The object is divided into functional and technological zones. This ensures accurate localization of the signal and minimizes response time.
- Integration with other systems. The fire alarm system must work in conjunction with warning systems, automatic fire extinguishing, ventilation and access control. Only an integrated approach ensures an effective response.
- Speed and reliability of detection. The high trigger rate of the detectors allows timely activation of evacuation protocols and the fire extinguishing system.
The main stages of design
- The primary audit of the facility. Specialists analyze the layout, purpose of the premises and storage conditions.
- Formation of the technical assignment. It is compiled taking into account the requirements of the customer, the specifics of the facility and the legislation.
- Selection of equipment. The types of detectors, reception and control devices, backup power sources and communication lines are selected.
- Creation of project documentation. Diagrams, calculations, specifications, and an explanatory note are being prepared. All documentation is drawn up in accordance with the Legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
- Project approval. If necessary, an expert examination in the regulatory authorities (including the Ministry of Emergency Situations).
- Transfer of the project to implementation. After the documentation is approved, the facility is transferred to a contractor for installation of the system.
To summarize
A reliable fire alarm system is not just a technical system, but an essential element of the overall safety of a warehouse facility. Errors at the design stage can lead to fatal consequences, especially if a fire is detected late. The design work should be performed by specialists with specialized permits and proven qualifications.
Only compliance with all the requirements of the regulatory framework and a practical approach to design will ensure the real protection of the facility and the safety of property.
